Good books

From time to time, we're going to bring you some quick reviews of good books that we've read recently.  This time, reviews come from John Keene and the books reviewed are available from him, from Acorn Books or 10ofthose.com.

Reason for God - Tim Keller

£9 available online reduced to £7

This is the best new book at dealing with apologetics issues asked by the postmodern generation. A must have to give away.

“As the pastor of an inner-city church in New York City, Timothy Keller has compiled a list of the most frequently voiced ‘doubts’ sceptics bring to his church, as well as the most important reasons for faith. In THE REASON FOR GOD, he addresses each doubt and explains each reason.”

'Tim Keller's ministry in New York City is leading a generation of seekers and skeptics toward belief in God. I thank God for him.' (Billy Graham )

I would recommend each person to have a copy to be able to read and give away in preparation for Passion for Life.

Rock Solid - 12 gospel truths to live by

£7 available reduced to £4

This book gives a great introduction to 12 key truths that form the core of what it means to be an evangelical Christian. The truths include the necessity of holiness, The penal substitution of Christ and Justification by faith alone. Each is written very simply and well by some of the best bible teachers and theologians in the country.

“Each chapter focuses on one of these truths and includes a short bible study and discussion questions aimed at stimulating our thinking and encouraging our action. Brief contemporary stories are also included to show how these particular truths have been used by God, either to bring men and women to Christ, or to each them something of His ways in their lives”

This is a book which defends some of the truths which have recently come under great attack in England and we must be able to love and defend.
